The Australian Government’s Continence Aids Payment Scheme (or CAPS for short) helps those with continence issues meet some of their product purchase costs.

Who's eligible?

If you haven’t already applied, it’s time to save some serious money! To be eligible you’ll need to be an Australian citizen or permanent resident over 5 years with:

  • Permanent and severe loss of bladder and/or bowel function caused by an eligible neurological condition; or
  • Permanent and severe loss of bladder and/or bowel function caused by another condition, provided the person has a Centrelink Pensioner Concession Card, whether as a primary cardholder or a dependant of a cardholder; or
  • Permanent and severe loss of bladder and/or bowel function caused by another condition provided the person has a Department of Veterans' Affairs (DVA) Pensioner Concession Card, whether as a primary cardholder or a dependent of a cardholder.

Who isn't eligible?

  • High-care residents in an Australian Government funded aged care home.
  • Recipients of Australian Government funded home care packages that includes continence aids.
  • National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) recipients with a plan that includes continence aids.
  • Eligiblity for assistance with continence products under the Rehabilitation Appliances Program (RAP).
  • Those with temporary or transient incontinence.

Once you’re accepted into the scheme, you will receive $558.80 each year towards continence products. These include a wide range of products such as:

You can choose to get one lump payment in July or two half payments in July and January each year.

Nominate your preferred CAPS provider and save even more.

When you fill in your CAPS application form you’ll be asked to nominate your preferred continence product supplier. Who you choose is completely up to you. However, nominating Independence Australia means we can help you save even more off your continence needs.
