Endourethral procedures such as catheterization involve the insertion of a catheter or other medical instrument into your urethra (the canal leading to your bladder).

To protect you from pain during the procedure, and to reduce the risk of injury and infection, doctors and nurses may use a lubricating gel called Instillagel.

Instillagel® is inserted into your urethra prior to insertion of a catheter or other medical instrument. Instillagel®?s unique triple action:

PREVENTS pain with lidocaine, a local anaesthetic

What Instillagel does:

Instillagel Almed is a STERILE lubricant. It contains a local anaesthetic 2% Lignocaine to prevent pain and 0.05% Chlorhexidine to reduce the risk of infection. It also provides lubrication to ease this process. Clinically evaluated effective against MRSA.

Before Instillagel is used

Tell the person preparing to use the gel if any of the following applies to you:

• If you are allergic (hypersensitive) to Lignocaine or Chlorhexidine
• If the moist lining of the application site is damaged or bleeding
